Scenario
Set after the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, makes a play to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. From melting makeup to filming in freezing temperatures, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti talk about getting into character during the making of “The Penguin”. Colin Farrell fought hard to have his version of The Penguin smoke tobacco in The Batman (2022), but it was unsuccessful. For his own series, however, the character is portrayed as an occasional tobacco user, with a preference for cigars.
The Penguin is just fantastic
An umbrella falls and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo. Featured on The Graham Norton Show: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). Wow.
I was wrong
Everyone knows Colin Farrell is a great actor, but he’s unrecognizable here as The Penguin. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him nominated for a few awards for his role in this. The biggest surprise was Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone. I wasn’t sure when I heard she was nominated for this role, she’s a good actress, but I didn’t think this role was for her.
That’s how you do it, DC
She’s just as good as Farrell in this and makes you believe Sofia Falcone is a true rival to The Penguin. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see her nominated for a few awards for her role in this. This isn’t your typical DC or Marvel show, this is a full-on gangster series. This series is set in the underworld of Gotham City, now half-destroyed, and it’s a great continuation of Matt Reeves’ Batman.
